(On-Line Competition Categories because of Corona Pandemic)

Because of the Covid19 Pandemic, 19th IKUD (16-19 May 2020) will be organized completely on-line. Competitors may join with their photograps and films which were taken in last 5 years at the coasts of Antalya. Underwater Imaging competitions are divided into 9 main categories. Each of these categories is named after a Turkish pioneer in underwater research and imaging. There will be also 12th International Underwater Research Symposium as the side event of 19th IKUD.

1. Nurdoğan Özkaya Underwater Nature Photography Contest:

Nurdogan Özkaya was one of the first scuba divers and underwater photographers of Turkey. Özkaya, who passed away in 1997, devoted his life to the underwater photography and beauties of Marmara Sea.
In this category, competitors can join with any camera of their choice .There is no restriction on lenses or filters.

Photographs have to take in last 5 years at the coast of Antalya. Competiors can join with 5 selected photos in JPG format and minimum 5 mb. size. Photos captured from the films cannot be accepted. Each photo has to name with the name of the competitor/Year/Region/Deep/photo number. Photos have to send via wetransfer until 10 May 2020.

2. Nurdoğan Özkaya Underwater Nature Photography Contest – Masters Category:

In this category, MASTER PHOTOGRAPHERS can compete with any camera of their choice within a given period of time and in a pre-determined area. There is no restriction on the kind of lenses or filters. Jury of the competition will decide to master photographers according to their training, photographs and international satisfaction.

3. Emre Omur Underwater Video Imaging Contest:

Emre Omur is one of the firsts in underwater photography and video imaging. Omur, whose work on the underwater world of many countries has been published in domestic and foreign media, has been a role model for young photographers.
Competitors in this category may use any kind of video cameras in Digital format. Durations of the films can be between 2-5 minutes. There are no technical restrictions but formats can be MP4 or MOV in HD. Music of the films have to without copyright problem. Each competitor can join with max. 2 films. Films have to take in last 5 years at the coast of Antalya. Name of the competitors, locations and the deep have to note under of the image or at end of the film. 4. Jale Inan Underwater Archeology Photography Contest:

Prof. Jale Inan, who was one of the first archeologists of Turkey, was born in 1914 in Istanbul. Inan, who was sent abroad by Ataturk to receive an education in archeology, conducted the digs in Side and Perge and trained hundreds of Turkish archeologists. She also contributed to the establishment of the Antalya and Side museums. Inan passed away in January 2001. Today hundreds of archeology students and researches benefit follow her track and benefit from the library of Antalya museum, to which she donated her books.

In this category, competitors can join with any camera of their choice. There is no restriction on lenses or filters. The main criteria in the evaluation are that the objects whose images have been taken are those with archeological value. Touching, moving or removing the archeological objects are the primary reasons for disqualification. Photographs have to take in last 5 years at the coast of Antalya. Competitors can join with 5 selected photos in JPG format and minimum 5 mb. size. Photos captured from the films cannot be accepted. 5. Jale İnan Underwater Archeology Photography Contest, Masters Category:

In this category, only master photographers can join with any camera of their choice. (Jury of the competition will decide to master photographers according to their training, photographs and international satisfaction if they didn’t decide to the category.) There is no restriction on lenses or filters. The main criteria in the evaluation are that the objects whose images have been taken are those with archeological value. Touching, moving or removing the archeological objects are the primary reasons for disqualification. Photographs have to take in last 5 years at the coast of Antalya. Competitors can join with 5 selected photos in JPG format and minimum 5 mb. size. Photos captured from the films cannot be accepted. Each photo has to name with the name of the competitor/Year/Region/Deep/photo number. Photos have to send via wetransfer until 10 May 2020.

6. Ekrem Akurgal Underwater Archeology Video Imaging Contest:

Prof. Ekrem Akurgal, who is one of the most well-known researchers in archeology, was born in 1911. Akurgal, who was one of the pioneers of the Turkish Archeology, has trained countless students, founded and contributed to the foundations of institutions for education in archeology. Prof. Akurgal also holed honorary memberships in various domestic and foreign institutions. He passed away in 2002.
Competitors in this category may use any kind of video cameras in Digital format. Durations of the films can be between 2-5 minutes. There are no technical restrictions but formats can be MP4 or MOV in HD. Music of the films have to without copyright problem. Each competitor can join with max. 2 films. 7. Haluk Cecan Tropic Live Photographs and Video Contests

Haluk Cecan was a famous Turkish underwater film maker. His best character and satisfactions are always great example for young underwater photographers and videographers. He had more than 50 international awards from the festivals of all over the world. He passed away at 8 February of 2007.
Conditions of the photographs and films are same to other categories.

8. EUIFA Youth and Environment Award

Works exhibited under the categories of imaging competitions organized under the Kemer Underwater Days will be awarded with a Youth and / or Environment Prize of the European Underwater Imaging Festivals Association, one or both of which Jury Committees deem appropriate.

9. METİN Pehlivaner “Turkish underwater archeology contribution award”

Antalya Museum Director Metin Pehlivaner is the person who started archaeological underwater studies together with the Turkish archaeologist and archeology students on the Antalya Coast. Every year on behalf of him is awarded to people or organizations who contribute to this field in our country. This decision makes a different committee of archaeologist’s academicians decide.
